The new OpenType font technology has been jointly developped by Adobe and Microsoft to make an end to the incompatibilities of font formats on different hardware and software platforms. Documents created on a Macintosh using OpenType fonts can be moved to a Windows platform and used there without problems and vice versa. Another benefit of the OpenType format is that fonts can have up to 65535 characters. In the old font formats the number of characters was limited to 256. Now one OpenType font can cover a complete range of scripts like Western, Cyrillic, and Hebrew.
Apply Interactive converts existing fonts into OpenType format, adds not existing characters necessary for a specific language, creates typographical features, and develops own OpenType fonts.
